Against The Spread EXPLAINED
The best team in the league can still be one of the worst teams to bet on.
Against the spread is not asking which team is better.
It is asking whether that team can outperform the expectation already placed on it.
A dominant team can keep winning games while repeatedly failing to cover because the market keeps giving it larger numbers.
The final score tells you who won.
The ATS record tells you whether the team performed better or worse than expected.
